ABOUT DUBAI NETBALL LEAGUE
The Dubai Netball League (DNL) was formed back in 1974, starting with just four (4) teams and matches of only 20 minute halves. Players consisted mostly of housewives and teachers with games held in the early afternoon. In the early 80s the number of teams started increasing due to popular demand for the sport. To enable women working in other professions to play in the competition, game timings were changed to evenings. Wednesday nights came to be known as “netball night” in Dubai.
Over the years, games have been held at the Dubai English Speaking School (1975 onwards), Dutco Paulings Club and Exiles Rugby Club (early 80s), Dubai International Hotel (1985 – 1986), Mirdif Tennis Academy; and The Sevens. As the League has grown, so has the need to move with the times and relocate the venue to ensure optimum facilities. The DNL home base is now at The Sevens with 4 floodlit courts, clubrooms offering drinks and food as well as full shower facilities.
DNL is now the largest netball league in the UAE with over 400 members and growing. Over the last 5 years, teams have managed to secure sponsors while DNL partnered with other businesses to further develop the League. The committee consists of five (5) mandatory positions with sub-committees who all volunteer their unpaid time to support, develop and grow the League. Each member has a critical role to play and an opportunity to make a significant contribution to development of netball in Dubai.
MEET THE TEAM
Stacey Baker - Chair
Stacey has been a DNL member since 2016. Currently playing in Division 4, with Pumas, and orginally from Wales (very proud of that!). With a secret (or not so) passion for running, and second marathon in the not so distant future, if shes not on the netball court, she’ll be stuck behind a computer screen, or trying out the latest fitness craze that Dubai has to offer!

Megan Badenhorst - Vice Chair
One of our first newbies to the committee for the 2019/2020 season, Megan is also a member of Pumas. Having only been part of the league since December 2018, Megan is keen to leave her mark on the Dubai Netball League, and help improve out website and social media. A loud and out going character, we're sure you wont be able to forget this face!
Scarlett Gray - Secretary
Sticking to the proving that majority of netballers out here at Teachers, Scarlett is definitley the most social on the committee. Fitting. Currently playing in Bazookas, division 2, shes more than up for a good time any time, as well as being one of the friendliest people on the court.
Gaby Morton - Social Secretary
The youngest of the team, and with a degree in airport management being her, Gaby is a brunch lover. With weekend plans being the fuel to the rest of her week, Gaby has never been more keen to get everyone involved. Currently playing for Pumas, she is fueling up for something big ... Look out.
